Trend Report: Plaid Takeover

The 90's grunge look has slowly been making its come back over the past couple years. I wouldn't go as far as the Marc Jacobs Perry Ellis grunge phase from 1992 but I sure have seen some serious takes from it.
In my opinion, this generation have taken trends and made it there own. We aren't seeing one constant major trend anymore. Whether it's the 70's florals, the 60's mod stripes, or the 90's grunge, everyone is marching to their own drums and its more than acceptable!
Lately, I have been obsessing over the plaids. When I walk through work, I realize most every brand is as well. I wanted to share some different options from a variety of brands to help you add it to you closet!

Last Days Abroad in London

This past week has gone so fast and I cannot believe I'm leaving tomorrow! Although I'm so sad to leave, the time I've spent here has been unforgettable. Last weekend I went to the Swedish House Mafia concert in Milton Keyes, England and it was crazy fun. With 60,000 people there and some of my favorite DJs I had the time of my life at their last UK concert. This week I also really got to explore Hyde Park and feel in love with the atmosphere of the peaceful park. We went there three time this week and it probably is my favorite place in London. Besides being busy exploring the city I have been nonstop shopping, which will be what I miss most about London. The shopping here is never ending and you never get old of it. I practically spent my life savings in Topshop but I have gotten some really cute things.

So here are some pictures from this week, I will add more when I am back in the states. But be sure to look at my new purchases worn in the pictures:
Paddle boating in Hyde Park!
WHAT I'M WEARING: Topshop laced leggings and a Camden market racerback tee; Michael Kors studded crossbody bag
My friend Brittany and me loving on our fannys (or as they call them "bum bags") on our way to Milton Keyes to see Swedish House Mafia!

It was only a little but muddy...

Arrival in London

So I finally arrived in London a couple days ago and besides the major jet lag it has already been amazing! I figured since it's my first visit I would do all the super touristy things first but I hope through the month I can potentially act like a local. From riding on River Thames to going to Wimbledon I have already been blessed by this beautiful city. Seeing the fashion here is a bigger learning experience than I imagined. Everyone loves the black leggings with a great boot, and hey you really can't go wrong with that. I can't wait to see what I started learning when my classes start. Can't wait to leave for Paris in a couple hours!
Here are a couple pictures from the beginning of my adventure:
In the most beautiful rose garden at Kew Gardens.
Im wearing a shirt by Lush, a skirt by Stem, a Michael Kors cross body purse and a Marc by Marc Jacobs watch

Great picture of the from River Thames of Big Ben and Parliament
Love this picture of the Queen on her silver jubilee

The Heel Sandal

1. Laminated ZARA Heel Sandals - 159: I absolutely love these and are now on my must have list. They could be worn in so many ways; casual with boyfriend jeans and a loose shirt or dress them up with leather leggings and colorful flowy shirt.
2. Urban Outfitters Deena & Ozzy Studded Wood Sandal - 69: Stud's have been my number one accent for a while for accessories, so they really make these shoes perfection.
3.Giuseppe Zanotti Multicolored Patent Leather Sandal - 695: These are just awesome and would be a eye-catching item to add to your closet. They would definitely be cute with your little black dress
4. Topshop REFLECT Metallic Heel Sandals - 120: LOVE. Topshop has a huge selection of heel sandals but these immediately caught my eye. I would love to put on electric blue skinny jeans and a loose fitted top with these shoes. They have a very strong resemblance to a pair of Celine shoes (look it up and you'll 100% agree with me) so that is probably what drew my eyes so quickly to them.

It's the Most Colorful Time of Year

With spring here and summer coming, it is always the time for vivid floral apparel to come out in the fashion world. But this year I have noticed companies take color to a whole new level. Even street style has made this colorful trend global. So to give your closet a makeover lets take a look at different ways to style your color.

Here's a look at street style:
New York City, New York
Milan, Italy

Paris, France
I also want to show you a couple ad campaigns that are extremely creative and visually attractive ...

Urban Outfitters is using the desert (almost Coachella type style) theme to tie in the tribal/indie colors, then adding in nudes and denims to neutralizes the looks

J. Crew has really taken a turn since Mickey Drexler took over the company in 2003. The company simply looks more luxurious, and dressy with a vintage touch that just adds to the elegance of the merchandise. The most recent catalogs have been absolutely eye-popping and we constantly talked about it in my visual design class this past spring. You can definitely tell that color was the focus...

So start layering on those colors. Mix them with wild prints. Tame the look with neutrals. Its as simple as that.

BRIGHT White Bottoms for Spring

This time of year I'm always excited about wearing white. This year its all about wearing the right bottoms in a bright way. I found super nice bottoms online from different stores that are easy to find and easy to wear. The best thing about wearing white bottoms is you could really wear it with any top and accessories and still look great (just don't wear a white top, unless you're going for the Mr. Clean look).

From Anthopologie; Earnest Sewn Hefner Bootcut jeans - $188

Topshop; Linen Tapered Trousers - $64

Uniqlo Women Roll Up Chino Shorts - $29.90
Urban Outfitters BDG Boyfriend shorts - $54

With fall fashions coming in, its hard to remember what the current season is. Unless you live in 80 degree weather like me you might need a little remember. Because since it is the first week of spring, I wanted to take a quick look at spring trends to look for when you update your wardrobe for the new season. More specifically, I wanted to move away from designer prices and move towards prices you can afford!

Get Olivia Palermo’s London Fashion Week Style

During London’s Autumn/Winter 2012 fashion week, Olivia Palermo showed up at Topshop’s show looking trend fabulous. She rocked an Armani jacket with a yellow blouse and floral pants, both from Topshop. She accessorized with Mulberry animal printed shoes, a Meli Melo “Olivia” bag and a BCBG Max Azria belt. As a fashion innovator Olivia really pulled together a daring but amazing outfit that might be hard to match. I found myself an outfit that is similar to hers but with a touch of my style:
