The Midas Touch for British Vogue

I can't think of a better way to celebrate the Olympics in London than to have a Midas (golden) Touch themed shoot for the September issue of British Vogue. Some of the biggest names in the modeling industry in England teamed together to wear some of the most glamorous bespoke gowns!

Best Dressed: Cannes Film Festival 2012

This year at the Cannes Film Festival all the ladies brought their best attire. Celebrities such as Jane Fonda, Shailene Woodley, Eva Longoria, fashionista Diane Kruger, Jessica Chastian, and others looked fabulous as they walked the red carpet for premieres. Of course German actress and fashion icon, Diane Kruger, out-shined most with her stunning looks from day one in her blue Giambattista Valli couture. But I would have to say there were few this year that were disappointing when trying to show off there best looks.

Karlie Kloss Joining Team USA?

With the summer Olympics kicking of in London at the end of July, Vogue had some of the hottest male athletes come and pair up with model Karlie Kloss for the June 2012 cover story. Vogue interviewed each one of the athletes about their prospects for the upcoming months. Photographer Annie Leibovitz did such a fantastic job capturing what fashion editor Tone Goodman put together for Karlie Kloss and the athletes.
Here are some of my favorite pictures from the shoot including the cover:
Soccer player Hope Solo, swimmer Ryan Lochte, and tennis player Serena Williams
Karlie Kloss in a Vera Wang silk organza and tulle dress with a Jitrois corset belt
Karlie Kloss wearing Victoria Beckham with Gymnast Jonathan Horton in Adidas pants
Karlie Kloss wearing a Oscar de la Renta pleated dress with track and field athlete Ashton Eaton in Nike shorts
Karlie Kloss in a Stella McCartney (gold lame fabric) with swimmer Ryan Lochte
Karlie Kloss in a beautifully draped Haider Ackermann top and skirt with silk-mousseline fabric; Ryan Lochte wearing Speedo USA bottoms

Fall 2012 Ruffle Trend Debate

With fall trends flowing in after February fashion weeks, there are some I can agree with and some I definitely question; like most buys and merchandisers. One trend that was released by Women's Wear Daily were the feathers, rosettes, and ruffles seen on the runway during February. However, I found it interesting how they also released an article degrading the trend on celebrities seen in ruffles. Not to confuse you, they didn't agree or disagree with the runway trend, but I do think its interesting how critics are already critiquing the trend before the season starts.
So lets take a look at both; here are the trends from the runway from Fall 2012:
Moschino (model Cara Delevingne)
Prabal Gurung
Tory Burch (model Cara Delevingne)

Critiqued celebrity looks with what the should have worn:

Left: Elizabeth Banks in magenta, rosette accented Marc Jacob Right: Is what they said she should have worn, a drape accented Nina Ricci
Left: Avid McQueen wearer Florence Welch in a spring 2012 Alexander McQueen Right: Another Alexander McQueen in a more conservative fashion.
Left: Kourtney Kardashian in a vintage, ruffle collared dress (starting to look really pregnant!) Right: A great Chanel look-a-like minus the ruffles

So what do you think? Will the ruffles, rosettes, and feather work for fall or was it just a coincidence on the runway...

84th Annual Academy Awards Best Dressed

Tonight's red carpet was filled with glamour! Overall, the rich and famous looked very classy and conservative. I did notice quite a few were rocking the strapless look showing off their collar bone. There wasn't really a dress I absolutely hated but I wasn't a fan of Sandra Bullocks Marchesa's dress:(
Here are my favorite that I saw when watching the red carpet show:
Natalie Portman wearing a vintage Haute Couture Vintage Christian Dior from 1954 (awesome!)
Kara Mara (from 127 Hours and Iron Man 2) in Jack Guisso Haute Couture
Michelle Williams in her usual popping red Louis Vuitton gown with a peplum waist
Rooney Mara (Girl With a Dragon Tattoo) wearing Givenchy
Jessica Chastian wearing Alexander McQueen (hand-embroidered) MY FAVORITE
Angelina Jolie looking stunning in a black velvet Atelier Versace
Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids and SNL) wearing J. Mendel

Young Olsen on the Rise

I can honestly say 5 years ago I didn't even know the Olsen twins had a younger sister, and now I am seeing Elizabeth everywhere making a name for herself. She never steps out into public without a jaw dropping outfit on! At 22 years old she has grown into a woman and is a huge icon in the fashion industry.

My Favorite Dresses Worn By the Duchess This Week

Of course she looked fabulous all week but these are some of my favorite picks of hers. You'll notice that she likes dresses that have an accent at her waist line. For a woman that is VERY tiny its good to accent curves like she does, especially since most of her dress are very flowy (I guess it would be weird if she worse tight dresses being royal and all...)

At a polo match wearing Jenny Packham

At a charity event wearing Alexander McQueen with a Jimmy Choo purse and shoes

Wearing a Diane Von Furstenburg dress and also a DVF leopard bag

Wearing another Jenny Packham dress with her favorite L.K. Bennett shoes she wore a lot during her visit to Canada and California
