Louis Vuitton RTW Fall '13

Front Row Favorites: Elizabeth Olsen, Lily Collins, Naomi Watts, Jessica Chastain, Jefferson Hack, and Jamie Hince

Looks From the Runway: "All dressed up and nowhere to go" - Marc Jacobs. The show took place in a upscale Louis Vuitton looking motel. Models would come out of the faux door, do a lap and return from where they came from. This season Marc did a mix of eras; he said "... some Gloria Swanson and a lot of Hollywood." The show reminded me of people with a lot of money with nothing to do but dress in luxurious clothes. Kate Moss was a good surprise as she walked for the finale.
There were a lot of silk nightgowns and slips covered with the trending mannish coat for the season as a cover. With feathers and lace added to the hems and arm cuffs, it made for a more showy look. I loved the belted blazers with short bottoms that made for a pant-less look. Overall, you could see a resemblance in his own line shown in New York with the relaxed, street pajama look.

Handbag Favorites: Mixes of fur, feathers, and different animal skins

Fall RTW '13 Trend - Oversized Outerwear

Have you ever tried on a coat that was a size too big? Well imagine trying 3 sizes bigger; you are basically swimming in massive amounts of extra fabric. What you just imagined is exactly what some of the designers this fashion month debuted for this coming fall. I noticed many mannish coats with oversized lapels and ignorance towards the woman figure. Although this could come across as negative on paper, on the runway it grew on me. I loved how on some of them it exaggerated the shoulders or in Valli's and Celine's case the large coat was rounded out around the shoulders and the bodice. Here are some of my favorite oversized, mannish coats that were seen around the world during the fashion weeks:

Louis Vuitton/Marc Jacobs Exhibit in Paris

The week I was in Paris, we got to seeing some really amazing exhibitions. From Balenciaga to Yves Saint Laurent we saw it all. My favorite one was by far the Louis Vuitton/Marc Jacobs exhibit. It took you from 1854 to the 2012, showing you all the great creations this brand and these designers have made.
We weren't allowed to take photos inside but I was able to sneak a couple really great photos of my favorite displays and wanted to share with you all! So sorry in advance that they aren't the best quality.
Original luggage cases created by Louis Vuitton himself in the 1850's

My Days In Paris

Wow, this past week has been absolutely crazy! We arrived home from Paris last Thursday and left straight for Bath and Wales on Friday. This being why I haven't really had the time to sit down and blog. Now I am finally back in London for my final two weeks and I can't believe how fast time is flying. Of course Paris was absolutely amazing. My favorite place to be was Rue de Champs Elysees with all the high end stores and the Arc de Triomphe (which i went to the top of). For class we had guided tours of Printemps and Galeries Lafayette which are two of the biggest and oldest department stores in Paris. We learned all about their history and really just observed the environment which was so different then any other store I've ever been to. My favorite place was definitely when we went to Versilles it was breathtaking. Although we didn't get to go in palace we got to explore the gardens which is mainly what I wanted to see. We got to explore many exhibits including the Louis Vuitton/Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, and Comme des Garcons. The pictures that I took from Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton are on my phone but once I can get to those I'll be sure to post those as well.

Arrival in London

So I finally arrived in London a couple days ago and besides the major jet lag it has already been amazing! I figured since it's my first visit I would do all the super touristy things first but I hope through the month I can potentially act like a local. From riding on River Thames to going to Wimbledon I have already been blessed by this beautiful city. Seeing the fashion here is a bigger learning experience than I imagined. Everyone loves the black leggings with a great boot, and hey you really can't go wrong with that. I can't wait to see what I started learning when my classes start. Can't wait to leave for Paris in a couple hours!
Here are a couple pictures from the beginning of my adventure:

Louis Vuitton Takes on the Edwardiana Era for Fall/Winter 2012

The history of fashion has always been something that has interested me. I continually enjoy learning and reading about it everyday. When I see a designer take on an era in specificity I love to be subjective on it and see how they did on mimicking that era's fashion and also making it there own.
To give you a quick briefing, the Edwardiana era took place before WWI between the years of 1901 and 1910 (right after the Victorian Era). This era was known for the fashionable elite because of King Edward who was known for his world travel. I observed, in my studies, a lot of corseted women covered from head to toe in long skirts and dresses with long sleeves. And definitely not to go unnoticed, were the large hats.
At 10 AM this morning in Paris, France at the Cour Carree du Lourve an actual train moved onto the stage after large steel doors opened under a large steel Louis Vuitton clock. One by one, once the train stopped, prestige women stepped out onto the runway with their own uniformed porter to handle her luxurious luggage. As Marc stated, "No girl will hold her own bag this season, it will be carried for her."
Marc Jacobs, the creative director for Louis Vuitton, took on a more contemporary, modern version of this era, of course, with lots of classic camel colors. I found it interesting how he used the stovepipe pant in the collection which was becoming popular for men, definitely not women, in that time era. With the layered jackets over skirts over pants made to an exaggerated bell silhouette. For the shoes he used square toe Mary Jane heels.
Marc loves creating stories with his collections and he did nothing less then perfection again when doing so this Fall/Winter 2012 season.
Here are some looks of the collections, and to see the full show go to my Video page!

I love this leather patchwork on the skirt he began here
In love with these stovepipe pants; perfect color

He did this look in a lipsick red as well
He played on this look with a marigold yellow, sky blue, and mint green
