Favorites From New York Fashion Week A/F '13

Alexander Wang

It's hard to ever doubt Alexander Wang's genius. For this A/W collection he really showed his strong points by using different textures and fabrics together. The outerwear in this collection was to die for; glossy leathers, fluffy wool, and amazing furs lead my mind straight to the luxury of his brand. His signature sleek-cool look was continued through his statement shoulder look in the collection.

Diane von Furstenburg

There might not be anything that makes me happier than seeing 70's glam on the runway. Diane von Furstenburg took it to a whole new level with metallic animal skins, print mixing, and fur details. Not only is the collection very wearable, its sleek and can be very sophisticated. I love how she incorporated her signature wrap dress and added suede to it. Now who is going to get me that metallic snake skin blazer?!

Ralph Lauren

I loved this collection because of the not-so-usual road Ralph Lauren took when creating his story for his collection. With a twist between chic and sailor, I see a lot of potential for this collection for department store buyers. He started out with a black and white monochromatic color palette and smoothly transitioned into velvet dresses of oxblood, blue, and purple. The evening gowns at the end were nothing short of elegant and luxurious and will sure be seen on the red carpets soon to come.

Cara Delevingne in All Her Glory

This seasons most seen model on the runway and my personal favorite is Cara Delevingne. Ever since I saw her in the Burberry Prorsum S/S 2012 Ads I adored her. Coming from London she has her own rock-n-roll style that makes her wear clothes well. As Rosie Vogel says,
"She's not your typical model in that she's not the standard 5"11- but then neither's Kate Moss. But what she lacks in inches, she makes up for in confidence. She's unique - she has a wonderful versatility to her and a great personality, which is crucial. She's really lively and dynamic and still feels very modern. I like that she has those heavy brows - it adds something very different."
She walked in this season's greatest shows all over the world, which is great for this British lad's career at age 19.
Here are some of my favorite runway walk from her this season:
Chanel during Paris Fashion Week
Burberry Prorsum during London Fashion Week
Paul & Joe during Paris Fashion Week
Rag&Bone during New York Fashion Week
Blumarine during Milan Fashion Week (this collection was outrageous in a bling-tastic kind of way)
Oscar de la Renta during New York Fashion Week

Jason Wu's Ready-to-Wear Fall 2012

There wasn't much guessing when looking at Jason's overall theme for fall. As Jason says, "An Asian person doing an Asian collection. It's a revolution." When looking through the collection you can tell in consecutive order of how he goes through Asia. It starts with the Mao military, then the Qing dynasty and lastly the Forties Hollywood glamour of "Shanghai Express." You can tell the effort he put forth on the collection which makes it hard not to love it.
