What's Trending for Pre-Fall 2013?

So I pretty much have been M.I.A this past month. Basically sickness and exams took over my life but that doesn't mean I haven't been looking into these new collections.
Overall, these collections have been a great follow-up to Spring 2013. With a lot of moody palettes and awesome prints there has been a lot of personality to them.
While looking through the collections I did notice a handful of designers used the conservative pencil skirt. I have always been a fan of the pencil skirt when it is worn in the right way (the tight short pencil skirt isn't so attractive for work ladies). With the length hitting below the knee, it is perfect for colder weather when approaching fall/winter. Also you can see in the Prabal Gurung, the high waist to shin length skirt really elongates the figure. I'd have to say the conservative skirt suit has never looked so appealing till now.

Summer Isn't Over Yet!

With fall clothing moving into the stores it's hard to remember its still summer. In Florida it's reaching almost 100 degrees everyday, so I'm still looking for shorts and tees. This outfit is trying to incorporate the different trends arising. From the gilded age to the crazy prints this outfit is nothing short of perfect for me. I love the colorful, sequined shorts and crazy, spiked bracelets matched with a classy blouse and purse!

1. Topshop Cropped Front Pleat Shirt - $60
2. Topshop Calypso Embellished Shorts - $120
3. Tory Burch Robinson Shoulder Bag from Net-A-Porter - $350
4. Topshop Spike Prism Stretch Pack - $30
5. Lanvin Leather Ballet Flats from Net-A-Porter - $570
6. Deborah Lippmann Lady is a Tramp - $16

Fall 2012 Ruffle Trend Debate

With fall trends flowing in after February fashion weeks, there are some I can agree with and some I definitely question; like most buys and merchandisers. One trend that was released by Women's Wear Daily were the feathers, rosettes, and ruffles seen on the runway during February. However, I found it interesting how they also released an article degrading the trend on celebrities seen in ruffles. Not to confuse you, they didn't agree or disagree with the runway trend, but I do think its interesting how critics are already critiquing the trend before the season starts.
So lets take a look at both; here are the trends from the runway from Fall 2012:
Moschino (model Cara Delevingne)
Prabal Gurung
Tory Burch (model Cara Delevingne)

Critiqued celebrity looks with what the should have worn:

Left: Elizabeth Banks in magenta, rosette accented Marc Jacob Right: Is what they said she should have worn, a drape accented Nina Ricci
Left: Avid McQueen wearer Florence Welch in a spring 2012 Alexander McQueen Right: Another Alexander McQueen in a more conservative fashion.
Left: Kourtney Kardashian in a vintage, ruffle collared dress (starting to look really pregnant!) Right: A great Chanel look-a-like minus the ruffles

So what do you think? Will the ruffles, rosettes, and feather work for fall or was it just a coincidence on the runway...
